SpaceX CRS-1: Orbcomm satellite reportedly in wrong orbit

October 8 2012 03:59:23 PM | by Dick Rocket

Jonathan Amos of the BBC posted the following message this morning:

Falcon 9 did not make its second upper stage burn, and the Orbcomm satellite is being tracked in low orbit instead of its elliptical target orbit.

Last night Gwynne Shotwell of SpaceX said in the news conference that the satellite had been successfully deployed. So there is some confusion that needs to be cleared up.

NSG reps heard last night at the Cape that there seemed to be a problem with the second stage.
