Steve Jurvetson visits the SpaceX Grasshopper

Famous tech investor and rocketry enthusiast Steve Jurvetson visited SpaceX's test facility in McGregor, Texas last week and posted some cool pictures of the Grasshopper reusable first stage prototype: SpaceX Grasshopper - Flickr   (link via The Original Rocket Dungeon).

See in particular the last of Jurvetson's pictures. The small cars and trucks give a sense of the scale of the Grasshopper. Tethered hover tests would need one heck of a big crane!

While at the test site, Jurvetson also saw some tests of the Merlin 1D and SuperDraco rocket engines:

 

Jurvetson is on the board of directors of SpaceX and Tesla Motors among several other companies.
